As many of you know, I have been part of an ever changing band in my past year and a half in China. Stan and I are the last remaining as everyone else has moved away, but we still perform together occasionally. On Saturday we had the opportunity of playing for the grand opening of 138art, a foreign restaurant in Qingdao. In typical Chinese fashion, we were supposed to play from 1-3, but didn’t actually start until 3, and then had a plethora of sound and electricity issues. But it all got sorted out and we began to play on an elevated stage in front of a well traveled mall just as the fog rolled in. Hundreds of people stopped to watch over the course of the afternoon. Stan and I had a lot of fun. Since this kind of performance will probably never happen again for me, I was thankful that it did.
